I'm an enthusiastic, multitasking, motivational, always try to inspire kind of person! I was born and raised in Southern California, I'm an identical twin, and I've been an artist all my life (or at least since I could remember).

Direct link requirements on DDs
I spoke with $fourteenthstar and $Moonbeam13, and we decided that you should no longer have to put direct links to stock pictures in order to get a DD. So, you no longer need to direct link your stock pictures for DD purposes. (You DO still need to credit stock, though!) However, many groups still require those direct links for submissions, and that decision is entirely up to the group administrators. We hope this change will help make suggesting and posting DDs easier.

Darkroom on dA is a tribute to the traditional, involving chemical developing and printing techniques which have barely changed since the birth of photography, a symbol of the modern, making use of technological advances in digital processing, and a whole lot of amazing and beautiful things in between.

While the majority of Photography galleries on dA are subject-based, Darkroom is technique-based. Photographs using Darkroom techniques are generally accepted in the other photography galleries too, but if you wish to categorise your Darkroom photography submission based on how it was created, then Photography > Darkroom is here to allow you to do that.

Traditional Darkroom is where it all began. It started in a world where the word 'photography' didn't yet exist and the art of creating images of reality with light and chemicals sat somewhere between science and magic. Did you know that the mathematicians Aristotle and Euclid describe pinhole cameras in the 4th and 5th centuries?

In the early 1800s, artist/inventors like Louis Dageurre and Henry Fox Talbot (among others) experimented with ways of fixing images using chemicals, including silver compounds, following exposures on materials like glass and metal, lasting from several minutes to several hours. By 1840, Talbot was creating negative images using the calotype process and John Herschel had invented the cyanotype process (where the term 'blueprint' comes from) and created the first glass negative in 1839.

Over the past few months, we've been diligently working on cleaning up the category tree of old and unused categories.  While most of this will go unnoticed by the community, what you will notice is the change from "Miscellaneous" galleries to "Other".  The reason for this change is simple.  The concept of Miscellaneous leads one to believe that it's a junk drawer category for everything under the sun when the intention was to be an "Other" category for deviations that don't fit well in other sub-categories of the tree.  We're also working on u

As the old year begins to fade into the sunset, it is customary to reflect on the passing year and make plans for the upcoming one.  Some do this in the form of resolutions, some people make action plans, some people just swing into the new year the same way they swung out of the old one :) Whatever way you intend to welcome in 2013, I hope you're surrounded by love and that you do it safely!

In my opinion, one of the greatest advantages to the New Submission Process, are the thumbnail examples and descriptions that appear when you're selecting a category.  It's no secret that we have misplaced deviations throughout the galleries and it's probably the most complained about topic I deal with on a daily basis. My team and I have been working hard to improve the descriptions and thumbnail examples for all of the galleries, and I'm happy
Welcome to Photomanipulation Month!Greetings!
Yes, you read that right: Photomanip MONTH! :XD:
When I first came on board as the Community Volunteer for Photomanipulation, I wanted to have a photomanipulation workshop month, or a "boot camp," to help our community members hone their skills and to help people from outside the community learn more about what we do. ^Kaz-D had the brilliant idea of turning it into a Photomanipulation Month with Project Educate! So, here we are!
This month will  be filled with contests and challenges, games and activities, and lots of chances to win fabulous prizes! We hope everyone will learn something along the way as well. :heart:
About this month
We see this month as an opportunity for all of us to share what we know and build a stronger community. We had originally conceived of this month as "Advanced Photomanipulation Month," but we figured that might be exclusive to a great portion of our community.
CR Photomanip UpdatesHappy New Year!
Happy New Year from #CRPhotomanipulation! I hope the coming year brings each of you peace, prosperity, and CREATIVITY!
We have lots of stuff coming up in the coming year. We're trying to organize some photomanip workshops in the coming weeks, and we are also hoping to have some more creativity challenges. 
And, of course, our official photomanip contest will start on January 15th. :XD: We are still looking for prize donors and groups who might want to partner with us.
Project Newbie
As you've probably noticed, I haven't had much time to do anything with Project Newbie. When you have a lot going on, sometimes you have to prioritize, and that sort-of fell to the bottom of my many priorities. :XD: But, I've been talking with *Gaias-Whispers, who has some cool ideas for getting the project off the ground. I hope that together we can make some progress on it.

Manga and Anime January+February Update!

Hello my sweetest summer days!
It's that time of the month again :dummy: Time to recap and look forward for more Manga & Anime goodies!! This is going to be part of $Moonbeam13's Community Relations Newsletter for January and February, so for that sake, I'm going to recap yet again what we did in January, then February and last but not least, we're going to cover what is to be expected for the rest of February and March!


January!



  • The first Manga and Anime Artist of the Month was awarded to *shrimpHEBY! Read it here

  • We celebrated the First Themed DD Week! The Traditional Art Week ran from Jan 14th - 20th! Thanks to your help it was a success :la: See the pieces featured here
