Last article for today! After learning so much about Fan Art and Fan Fiction I think it was high time we actually talked about those who make them possible: The community, also known as The Fandom!

Fandom - The community

The fans of a determined series, videogame, movie, books etc along with their activities and everything that relates to what they are a fan of is what we call a 'Fandom'.

For example, people who love Harry Potter series, are often found in communities where they organize themselves in houses like in the books, they get together to talk or discuss things related to their fandom, etc. This is known as the Harry Potter Fandom.

Though it seems to be a specific thing, it can be applied to many things. If you are really into mangas and animes, then you could say you belong to the Manga & Anime fandom, where you interact with other people interested in the same animes as you, for example.

Another common Fandom within deviantART is the Pokemon fandom, whose fans are often seen challenging other pokemon fans to pokemon battles, sometimes they get together and the challenge is done through videogames but sometimes they portray their battles in artworks and other deviants are the ones to pick the winners.

Some fandoms that have become really popular this year are the Hetalia, Vocaloid, Black Rock Shooter and Durarara fandoms. You don't have to go very far within deviantART to see someone with an icon, a signature or an artwork representing any of these fandoms.

An interesting thing about fandoms is for example, what happens to me and Hetalia. I have never read Hetalia, well I tried but it didn't draw my attention, and still, the Hetalia fandom makes me fall in love once and again with each fan artwork that they make for this series!

I consider a fandom to be impressive when they can draw my attention so tightly without even being interested in the original source.
